4 Easy Ways to Remove the Evil Eye (Nazar)

How to Remove Nazar: A baby crying for no reason at night, someone suddenly falling ill, or blessing suddenly disappearing from some work — these are things that happen in every household at some point. And when they happen, a question arises in the heart: “Could this be the evil eye (nazar)?” Then begins the running around asking people, everyone says something different, and the worry only grows.
So today I will tell you 4 easy ways to remove the evil eye, taken directly from the Quran and Hadith. If you understand these well, then whether the nazar is on you, your child, or anyone else, InshaAllah you will be able to perform ruqya with your own hands, without depending on anyone.
The Evil Eye Is Real — No Need to Panic
First, remove from your heart the idea that the evil eye is just superstition, because the Noble Prophet ﷺ himself said: “The evil eye is real” (Sahih Muslim). So when someone in the house is affected by nazar, instead of panicking, calmly follow these methods — InshaAllah, Allah Ta’ala will grant healing.
First Method
First recite Surah Al-Fatiha once, then recite Ayatul Kursi once, and after that recite both “Quls” — Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas — once each. After this, recite this dua, which is also proven from Hadith:
Then, after reciting all of these, blow on the person affected by the evil eye, or if you yourself are affected, blow on yourself. If someone cannot recite these duas themselves, someone who knows them can recite and blow on them instead.
Second Method
This method is also proven from Hadith. Whenever someone was affected by the evil eye, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform ruqya with this dua:
Recite this dua and blow, then say “Qum bi-idhnillah” meaning “Rise by Allah’s permission.” As soon as this is said, InshaAllah, the effect of the evil eye will end.
Third Method
This method is narrated from Hazrat Hasan Basri (RA): recite the last verse of Surah Al-Qalam, well known for protection against the evil eye, three times and blow:
You may also recite both Quls — Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas — along with it, then blow three times. InshaAllah, this will provide complete protection from the evil eye.
The Dried-Chili Method for Removing Nazar
In this same tradition, elders are also known to use a method involving dried chilies:
- Seven dried red chilies are taken,
- and the last verse of Surah Al-Qalam and Surah Al-Falaq/An-Nas are recited and blown onto each chili, one at a time.
- The chilies are then circled seven times over the head of the affected person, and afterward burned.
Since the duas recited in this practice are proven from the Quran and Hadith, this practice is also permissible.
Fourth Method
This blessed method is found in a hadith of Sahih Bukhari. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ himself used this very dua to perform ruqya on Hazrat Hasan and Hazrat Husain (RA), and Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) used the same method on his sons. The full method is as follows:
- 1x Surah Al-Fatiha
- 1x Ayatul Kursi
- 1x Surah Al-Falaq
- 1x Surah An-Nas
- And then this dua, once:
By following this blessed practice, you can also remove the evil eye from yourself and your children. Altogether, these are the four methods — whichever feels easiest for you, follow it with confidence.
Things to Keep in Mind
Whoever is affected by the evil eye, perform ruqya immediately — no need to delay. If you cannot recite it yourself, having someone who knows it recite and blow on the person is also sufficient. Among the four methods, follow whichever feels easiest. Do this with certainty and trust — healing comes from Allah alone.
